Bengaluru, Jan 2 (NationPress) The Karnataka Police apprehended two individuals on Friday, one of whom is a software engineer, for their involvement in sending offensive messages directed at Vijayalaxmi, the spouse of imprisoned actor Darshan. The suspects reportedly made lewd remarks and utilized profane language. Following the filing of a complaint, they subsequently removed the messages.
The individuals taken into custody have been identified as Nitin, a tech professional from Davanagere, and Chandru, an autorickshaw driver based in Chikkabanavara, Bengaluru.
The police tracked the offenders via their IP addresses and are continuing their investigation.
It is important to note that Vijayalaxmi has accused the Bengaluru Police of not acting on her previous complaints regarding various social media accounts that posted abusive comments about her.
However, Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh refuted her claims, emphasizing that the investigation is ongoing.
On Wednesday, Vijayalaxmi met with Seemanth Kumar Singh, after which she posted on social media about the situation.
She stated, "My complaint has been completely ignored. I believe that the law applies to everyone equally, but this experience has caused me to doubt that belief. This has taken me by surprise."
She continued, "A swift response was initiated in another woman’s complaint. Yet, in my case, there has been no action, and I feel overlooked."
Kannada actress and former Congress MP Ramya, known as Divya Spandana, also filed a complaint against Darshan's fans for issuing rape threats to her after she supported the victim's family in a murder case involving a fan.
The police acted promptly in that instance and made arrests.
On social media, Vijayalaxmi remarked, "I have always trusted that the system and the law are the same for everyone in our country. However, this experience has led me to question that belief. Despite follow-ups by my legal team, there has been no action. I had to personally remind them of my pending complaint."
She expressed concern, stating, "I truly hope this delay is not due to external pressures or influences. Justice should not rely on who is involved. Those supporting or shielding such behavior should redirect their energy towards improving their lives instead of condoning such actions."
Vijayalaxmi emphasized she would not let this matter slide, stating, "I am still waiting, and I will not allow this to be overlooked."
Last week, she lodged a complaint at the Cyber Crime Police Station against several social media accounts for posting abusive remarks about her.
She presented a complaint along with screenshots against 15 Instagram IDs and more than 150 offensive comments. After submitting the complaint, Vijayalaxmi exited the premises without addressing the media.
Additionally, she filed a complaint at the Bengaluru Police Commissioner’s office, providing screenshots of the hate messages and the associated accounts, urging the authorities to take action. The cybercrime division inspector accepted her complaint and assured her of appropriate measures.
Ultimately, Vijayalaxmi shared an Instagram story regarding the situation, posting screenshots of the abusive comments and the accounts responsible for them.
