Bengaluru, July 29 (NationPress) In response to the distressing situation involving actress and former Congress MP Ramya, who has been subjected to vulgar messages from fans of Darshan following her comments on the fan murder case linked to the Kannada actor, Karnataka's Home Minister G. Parameshwara asserted that such occurrences "must be brought to a halt."

Speaking to the press in Bengaluru on Tuesday, Home Minister Parameshwara emphasized, "This development demands our utmost seriousness. We cannot allow such incidents to happen again. Today it is actress Ramya; tomorrow, it could be anyone else. We must put an end to this. The Bengaluru Police Commissioner will take the necessary actions."

He further stated, "I have not issued specific instructions, but the police will act as needed. We have acknowledged the letter from the State Women’s Commission regarding this issue and will respond accordingly. I will also direct relevant authorities to prevent such scenarios in the future," Parameshwara added.

On Monday evening, Ramya lodged a complaint with Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh against Darshan’s fans for sending her offensive and defamatory messages after her post on the murder case.

Darshan is the second suspect in this case, and the Supreme Court has reserved its ruling on an appeal against his bail.

After filing her complaint, Ramya explained to the media, "I shared information about the Supreme Court's decision regarding actor Darshan's bail petition to instill hope in the public about justice. Following that, I experienced trolling. I filed this complaint as a stand for women."

She continued, "I have reported 43 social media accounts. Some even threatened me with rape. If this can happen to me, what about others? Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh has promised action and has assigned the case to the Cyber Crime Wing. Women deserve the same freedom as men. Actor Darshan should have discouraged his fans from sending such messages."

“I don’t share any personal relationship with actor Darshan. I met him once at a wedding before the fan murder incident. If he had advised his fans earlier, the deceased fan Renukaswamy might still be alive. He was a fan of Darshan and likely wouldn’t have sent messages to Pavithra Gowda," Ramya remarked. Pavithra Gowda, Darshan’s girlfriend, is the main suspect in the murder.

In her complaint, Ramya expressed, "The upset fans of actor Darshan, angered by my act of sharing the Supreme Court news, have inundated my Instagram with scandalous, horrendous, and repulsive messages through various accounts. The messages I received are so vile and misogynistic that I cannot even include them in my complaint."

Ramya, also a film producer, has starred in over 40 films across various languages, playing lead roles alongside superstars like Dhanush, Surya, and the late Puneeth Rajkumar.

Simultaneously, the organization Film Industry for Rights and Equality (FIRE) sent a letter to Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara on Monday, demanding prompt action against the vulgar and misogynistic social media harassment aimed at Ramya.

In response to the offensive messages and videos circulated by Darshan's fans against the Kannada actress, the Karnataka State Women’s Commission on Monday urged Bengaluru Police Commissioner Singh to take the necessary measures regarding this issue.
