A new docu-series titled 'Declassified: Operation Sindoor' is set to bring audiences inside one of India's most consequential counter-terror operations — the 88-hour cross-border offensive that targeted 9 terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The first look of the series was unveiled on Friday, 31 July 2026, ahead of its premiere on Discovery and discovery+ on 15 August 2026.

What the Series Covers

The docu-series traces India's response from the earliest strategic deliberations and military preparations through to the launch and execution of Operation Sindoor. It draws on first-hand accounts from individuals stationed in India's war rooms as well as those deployed on the frontlines, offering an inside look at decisions that, until now, had not been publicly disclosed.

The series brings together representatives from India's military leadership, ground operatives, defence experts, and journalists. Key voices featured include General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff; Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, Director General Military Operations; Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, Chief of Naval Staff; General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff; Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, Northern Army Command; and Air Chief Marshal A. The Operation: Background and Context

The Ministry of Defence had confirmed in a press communique that the pre-dawn strikes, codenamed Operation Sindoor, specifically targeted terrorist infrastructure across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. According to reports, surface-to-surface missiles were used to strike the terror camps. New Delhi had characterised the strikes as non-escalatory in nature.

The operation was a direct response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 25 Indian civilians and one Nepali national. In the aftermath of the strikes, the two nuclear-armed nations entered a standoff before eventually announcing a ceasefire. Pakistan, according to reports, had simultaneously unleashed a wave of misinformation to influence public opinion.

This is notably the first documentary under the new Declassified franchise by Warner Bros. Discovery, signalling a broader editorial commitment to documenting pivotal geopolitical and military events.
