New Delhi, May 8 (NationPress) Defence Minister Rajnath Singh convened an all-party meeting in the capital on Thursday, following India's cross-border operations in Pakistan and PoK. He provided a detailed briefing to the Opposition on ‘Operation Sindoor’, its implications, and the government's rationale for targeting terror bases, as well as preparations for any potential consequences.
The meeting aimed to inform opposition leaders about one of the Army's most extensive undertakings against terror camps and infrastructure across the border.
Prominent leaders from various parties, including Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, were present at the discussion.
During the briefing, all parties expressed their appreciation for the Army's actions and offered support to the government in its mission to eradicate terrorism originating from abroad.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijuju remarked that there was a unified voice among all parties against terrorism, showcasing their collective support for the Armed Forces.
“Unity in the face of national security challenges is paramount. All parties agreed that political agendas should not interfere with national security discussions. They praised the armed forces and committed to backing the government,” he stated.
He further added that the political maturity displayed by all parties was commendable, emphasizing their clear backing for the Armed Forces and the government.
Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, stated to the media, "We have expressed our complete support for the government's initiatives.”
Mallikarjun Kharge remarked, "During the meeting, the Centre briefed us on Operation Sindoor. We assured them of our support."
AIMIM's Asaduddin Owaisi also commended the Armed Forces for their successful operation, urging the government to apply diplomatic pressure on Pakistan to classify The Resistance Front (TRF), the group responsible for the Pahalgam attack, as a terrorist organization.
"I praised both the Armed Forces and the Government for Operation Sindoor. We should initiate an international campaign against TRF to secure its designation as a terrorist organization by the UN Security Council. Additionally, we must seek support from the US in this endeavor," he mentioned.
