New Delhi, July 7 (NationPress) The President of Delhi BJP, Virendra Sachdeva, has revealed that the party aims to promote the principles of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee, the founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh — which preceded the BJP — through a theatrical performance scheduled for Tuesday.
Sachdeva informed the press that the play, centered on the life of Dr Mookerjee, will take place at Kamani Auditorium as part of the ongoing celebrations marking Mookerjee’s birth anniversary.
The event will feature the BJP National President JP Nadda in attendance.
The performance, set for 4 p.m. on Tuesday, will explore various dimensions of Dr Mookerjee’s life, including his childhood, his rise to becoming a young Vice-Chancellor, his political career, his resignation from Nehru’s cabinet to uphold national unity, and his significant journey to Jammu and Kashmir where he met Sheikh Abdullah.
“These themes are artistically captured in the play, which will be performed by talented artists from the National School of Drama,” he added.
Sachdeva emphasized that Dr Mookerjee’s primary goal was to advance the concept of ‘Nation First’, which has since evolved into the vast banyan tree that is the Bharatiya Janata Party — the largest political party in the world.
Praveen Shankar Kapoor, the Media Head of Delhi BJP, stated that the party engages in politics with an emphasis on principles, and this theatrical display serves as a vital medium to convey those very ideals.
Also present at the conference were Sumit Bhasin, the in-charge of Delhi BJP Morcha, and spokesperson Nitin Tyagi.
On the occasion of Dr Mookerjee’s 125th birth anniversary last Sunday, Nadda inaugurated six district offices digitally in Delhi and Haryana.
Nadda remarked that the birth anniversary of Dr Mookerjee carries both a moral obligation and emotional weight for the BJP, noting his multifaceted talents.
He achieved the position of professor at Kolkata University by age 33 and entered the legislative assembly by age 36.
Nadda highlighted that Dr Mookerjee never clung to power, remaining steadfast to his ideology and sacrificing his life for it.
His unwavering convictions have left India indebted to him, particularly for his efforts in ensuring that West Bengal remained a part of the country.
Nadda recalled how the seeds of divisive politics were sown soon after independence, and how Dr Mookerjee resigned from Nehru’s cabinet in protest, laying the groundwork for the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, which has evolved into today’s Bharatiya Janata Party.
