As a part of this heartfelt celebration, she served meals to the elderly residents, requested their blessings, and distributed saris to the women and dhotis to the men.
In a conversation with IANS, Kausar Jahan shared, “To commemorate the 75th birthday of our Prime Minister, a Sewa Pakhwada (Service Fortnight) is being observed nationwide. I came to this old age home to connect with the elderly, receive their blessings, and provide them with food. We aimed to celebrate in a way that is both meaningful and heartfelt.”
She further stated, “I wish PM Modi good health and a long life. This small gesture is our way of honoring his commitment to public service.”
The elderly residents expressed their happiness and gratitude.
A 104-year-old man remarked, “I extend my congratulations to PM Modi on his birthday. This is the first time a Sewa Pakhwada is being celebrated in such a considerate manner.”
Another elderly woman mentioned, “I wish PM Modi a very happy birthday and good health. It is inappropriate for the opposition to attack him personally or speak ill of his late mother. The dignity of the Prime Minister’s position should be respected.”
In the meantime, the BJP is set to launch a nationwide Sewa Pakhwada from September 17 to October 2, coinciding with the Prime Minister's birthday. This fortnight of service will conclude on the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri.
Union Minister Bhupender Yadav announced during a press briefing at the BJP headquarters that the Sewa Pakhwada will encompass various programs aimed at engaging individuals from every segment of society. These initiatives include blood donation and health camps, cleanliness drives, exhibitions, dialogue programs, and the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' initiative.
Moreover, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) will organize the 'Modi Vikas Marathon' across over 75 major cities on September 21 as part of the celebrations.
