Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 24 (NationPress) The Delhi Police announced on Tuesday the resolution of seven burglary and theft cases with the apprehension of three suspects: a brother, his sister, and his wife. This trio was reportedly engaged in a series of daylight thefts within the Mehrauli region of South Delhi.
The South District Police revealed that the breakthroughs were made possible through meticulous analysis of CCTV footage and advanced technical surveillance, resulting in the recovery of a substantial amount of stolen goods.
The investigation commenced after an e-FIR (No. 80023033/26) was filed on March 16 at the Mehrauli Police Station regarding a burglary in a secured residence. As the investigation progressed, law enforcement discovered a pattern of similar thefts occurring over the preceding two to three months, indicating that habitual criminals were targeting locked homes during the day.
A specialized team, including Sub Inspector Amit Kaushik, ASI Ravinder, Head Constable Rohtash, and Constable Vinod, was assembled under the leadership of SHO Mehrauli Ritesh and the broader oversight of the ACP Mehrauli. The team scrutinized footage from approximately 80 to 100 CCTV cameras, which led them to identify the primary suspect, Karamveer (30).
Following credible leads, police apprehended Karamveer on March 18. During his questioning, his sister Palak (25) and wife Radhika, alias Radha (21), were also taken into custody. The trio was discovered to operate as a tightly-knit family unit, each member playing a specific role in executing the burglaries and disposing of the stolen items.
Authorities reported that Karamveer, a repeat offender, was the one executing the burglaries, while Palak was responsible for selling the stolen jewelry in Uttar Pradesh. Radhika played a crucial role in managing and handling the stolen goods.
In the operation, law enforcement recovered jewelry sale receipts totaling Rs 5.2 lakh, Rs one lakh held in a bank account, one laptop, two mobile phones, a silver anklet, a silver coin, electronic accessories, branded apparel, and personal documents.
Officials have stated that this operation underscores the effective application of technology and timely police action in dismantling a burglary syndicate.
In a separate incident on March 21, a 22-year-old chef employed in night shifts at a five-star hotel was arrested for an alleged burglary in RK Puram, southwest Delhi. The suspect, identified as Nilesh alias Nikesh, utilized a master key to unlock doors and stole cash and jewelry valued at Rs 2.69 lakh. Police also recovered a master key and two scooters, one of which was reportedly stolen.
