New Delhi, July 12 (NationPress) In a significant operation against organized automobile theft, the Crime Branch of the Delhi Police has successfully dismantled two inter-state gangs that were active throughout the Delhi-NCR region, as well as Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Manipur.
Authorities apprehended a total of seven suspects and recovered eight stolen vehicles, which prominently included luxury models such as the Mahindra Thar, Toyota Innova, and Maruti Brezza.
The Central and Eastern Ranges of the Crime Branch spearheaded the operations. Following an intelligence tip-off, the Central Range team arrested three infamous auto thieves—Rohit, Rajender alias Tinu, and Satbir alias Sonu alias Amritsariya—in West Delhi.
During the operation, one stolen Maruti Eeco car, four chassis plates, vehicle components, and tools used for dismantling were confiscated. Satbir, identified as the principal architect of the operation, has a history of five previous offenses. Rohit and Rajender were primarily involved in the theft and dismantling of vehicles, selling the parts in grey markets such as Mayapuri in Delhi.
In a concurrent operation, the Eastern Range-I team intercepted a stolen vehicle being delivered to Siliguri, West Bengal. Four individuals—Mohd. Dildar, Kaiminlen Haopik, Md. Jaani alias Toni, and Arjun—were arrested. The authorities retrieved three stolen vehicles and seized counterfeit registration plates, forged RCs, ten Mahindra flip keys, and a number plate punching machine.
Investigations uncovered a sophisticated syndicate that stole vehicles on demand—particularly Mahindra Thar models—and rerouted them to the Northeast using falsified documents.
Suspect Dildar was previously linked to the delivery of six such Thar vehicles. Jaani, a known repeat offender with eleven cases, specialized in the theft of Thars, while Arjun was responsible for creating counterfeit number plates. The police noted that the operation relied on a network of lifters, forgers, drivers, and receivers to transport stolen vehicles without detection. Multiple FIRs across Delhi have been resolved due to these arrests.
“The unwavering commitment, strategic acumen, and proactive measures taken by the Delhi Police Crime Branch Team have resulted in the successful dismantling of a well-structured vehicle theft syndicate. The team is diligently working to analyze incriminating evidence to locate and capture additional members of the syndicate,” stated DCP Vikram Singh.
