New Delhi, Sep 22 (NationPress) In a recent announcement, Ramleela committees across Delhi have been granted a two-hour extension, allowing them to utilize loudspeakers and public address systems until midnight from September 22 through October 3. This was confirmed by Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Monday.
This special permission is designated exclusively for Ramlila, Durga Puja, Dussehra, and associated religious events, provided that they adhere to existing Noise Pollution Regulations.
The directive permitting the extended use of loudspeakers follows a request from the Delhi government in the interest of the public and reflects the long-standing appeal from organizing committees for a constrained, time-limited relaxation to facilitate smooth celebrations.
Minister Sirsa emphasized that this decision respects the cultural importance of the festive season while also safeguarding public health and tranquility, maintaining a residential nighttime noise standard of 45 dB(A).
“In light of the persistent requests from Ramleela committees, the government, led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has approved this initiative,” he stated.
As the chairperson of the Delhi Government’s Durga Puja Committee, Sirsa has held several discussions with District Magistrates, local leaders, and representatives from various agencies, including MCD, PWD, Forest, and Horticulture, to ensure that all necessary arrangements are made at event sites.
“Under Chief Minister Gupta’s guidance, we are committed to providing all essential facilities to guarantee the seamless execution of festivities,” he added.
Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Gupta participated in the Kalash Yatra at the historic Radha Krishna Temple located in Shalimar Bagh.
She also visited the Santoshi Mata Temple on Jail Road, where she paid her respects to the Goddess and prayed for the prosperity, health, and safety of all residents in Delhi.
Gupta expressed her belief that with the Goddess's blessings, Delhi will continue progressing along the paths of strength, peace, and development. During this festival, which embodies faith, joy, and the power of the Mother Goddess, she sought blessings for the happiness and unity of the capital’s populace.
For the past nine years, Rekha Gupta has participated in this sacred Kalash Yatra, viewing it annually as a source of spiritual tranquility and renewed vigor.
CM Gupta remarked that the Navratri festival initiates with Kalash Sthapana, and the Kalash Yatra epitomizes its collective tradition. This procession symbolizes devotion and the worship of the Goddess, with each step echoing faith, unity, and determination.
