New Delhi, Oct 12 (NationPress) The Cooperation Minister of Delhi, Ravinder Indraj Singh, revealed on Sunday that the government is set to launch new ‘Cooperative Stores’ throughout the capital, aimed at selling organic and locally crafted products from Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
These stores will serve as a direct market platform for local producers and women entrepreneurs, thus fostering employment generation and economic self-sufficiency, he stated.
The minister emphasized that the cooperative movement in Delhi will be rejuvenated with renewed vigor and direction.
He announced that the bank accounts of the minister, officers, and all employees within the Cooperation Department will be established in cooperative banks to exemplify trust and engagement in cooperative banking.
Additionally, he outlined plans for activities to be held during Cooperative Week next month.
Ravinder Indraj was the Chief Guest at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Delhi Citizen Cooperative Bank on Sunday.
On this occasion, he conveyed his best wishes to the bank’s chairman, board of directors, and members, asserting that cooperation transcends being an economic framework; it embodies a philosophy of social unity and collective involvement.
He mentioned that under the guidance of Union Home and Cooperative Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the Delhi Government is dedicated to realizing the vision of Antyodaya—uplifting the most marginalized individuals—and fulfilling the pledge to create a self-reliant India and a progressive Delhi.
The Cooperation Minister noted that in recent months, he has conducted extensive meetings with the chairpersons and directors of 12 major cooperative banks in Delhi. These discussions focused on enhancing consumer services and instituting necessary reforms in the cooperative banking sector.
He announced that new branches of cooperative banks will soon be established across various areas in Delhi to offer improved financial services at the local level, with particular emphasis on rural regions and rehabilitation colonies.
Ravinder Indraj stated that Cooperative Week will take place from November 14 to 20. During this time, cooperative institutions throughout the city will host Delhi’s largest-ever Blood Donation Camp.
He added that the week will embody the essence of ‘Prosperity through Cooperation’, with enthusiastic participation from banks, housing societies, credit unions, and self-help groups.
Reiterating the inclusive ethos of the cooperative movement, Ravinder Indraj remarked, “Cooperation is not solely about managing institutions — it’s about fostering opportunities for every segment of society, and that is our ultimate aim.”
The Minister announced that a grand statue of Shaheed Bhagat Singh will be erected next year in the historic grounds of the Registrar of Cooperative Societies (RCS) Office.
He asserted that this initiative will connect the spirit of cooperation with the principles of patriotism and public service, serving as a genuine tribute to the esteemed freedom fighters.
