New Delhi, Aug 15 (NationPress) On Friday, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta revealed plans to inaugurate the Atal Canteen Scheme, which will provide meals at an astonishingly low price of Rs 5 for workers starting December 25. Gupta criticized the prior AAP government for hindering the city's development, even on minor issues.
While hoisting the national flag at Chhatrasal Stadium on the 79th Independence Day, Gupta stated: “In honor of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birthday, our government will roll out the Atal Canteen scheme to ensure affordable meals for our labor force.”
This initiative, a significant commitment in the BJP’s manifesto, aims to deliver nutritious meals at just Rs 5 to residents in Delhi's slum areas.
Once implemented, the Atal Canteen Scheme will stand as a pioneering project, making nutritious food accessible at such a low cost.
Gupta further admonished the previous AAP administration for stalling progress in the capital, lamenting: “It is a disgrace that even after 78 years of Independence, our Capital struggles to meet its basic needs and aspirations. The neglect of the Yamuna for years, without serious efforts to rejuvenate it, is particularly painful.”
She assured citizens: “As the head of the Delhi government, I vow to restore the Yamuna to its pristine state and to make its banks inviting for prayers and celebrations.”
Furthermore, the Chief Minister pledged to accelerate the transformation of the national capital and provide housing for all slum dwellers.
“We all need to unite to revive the city’s historic legacy and propel it forward,” she remarked, emphasizing her administration's commitment to combating pollution in the Yamuna since day one.
Highlighting improvements in road repairs and rapid drainage of rainwater, she noted: “Now, we observe that rainwater drains quickly from roads with fewer complaints about waterlogging.”
The Chief Minister also showcased her government’s initiatives for empowering women financially, allowing them to leave their children at government-run creches and Anganwadis.
Additionally, she praised her government’s groundbreaking education bill designed to regulate school fees and enhance educational infrastructure.
CM Gupta expressed gratitude for the valor exhibited during Operation Sindoor and the armed forces' efforts to avenge the Pahalgam terror attack, reinforcing national pride.
Lastly, she thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his support in fulfilling the city’s development needs, including acquiring modern firefighting equipment.
