New Delhi, Feb 25 (NationPress) Assuring a monthly stipend of Rs 2,500 for women in Delhi, Lieutenant Governor V. K. Saxena on Tuesday emphasized the 'Viksit Delhi' manifesto as the foundational principle of the new administration, which is dedicated to establishing a corruption-free governance.

He stated that the government would adhere to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mantra of "Sab ka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas aur Sabka Samman".

During the inaugural session of the Delhi Assembly, L-G Saxena elaborated on the priorities set forth by the BJP-led Delhi government and expressed optimism about delivering a transparent and corruption-free governance, executing the Ayushman Bharat health scheme, uplifting women, revitalizing the Yamuna, enhancing unauthorized colonies, and offering affordable meals in slum areas.

"My government asserts that perpetuating poverty and preserving the status quo cannot be a state policy," he affirmed, vowing to cater to the needs of all societal classes, including the lower, middle, and upper classes.

Emphasizing the promotion of economic growth and job opportunities, he pointed out the government’s plan to concentrate on tangible results rather than masking failures with extensive advertising campaigns.

"My government perceives the substantial mandate as a public endorsement for the promised policy transformation," he remarked, amidst loud protests from the Opposition AAP members who were expelled on Speaker Vijender Gupta's orders.

Throughout the session, L-G Saxena's address was met with chants of "Modi, Modi" and applause from BJP MLAs as he reaffirmed the commitment to cleaning the Yamuna, ensuring access to clean water, and creating employment opportunities.

He outlined ten focal areas for the government including welfare for the impoverished, top-tier health services, education, transportation systems, and the provision of clean drinking water.

A manpower audit aimed at enhancing government efficiency and the implementation of PM Modi's commitment to housing for slum residents and a solar power initiative were also emphasized by the L-G.

L-G Saxena reiterated PM Modi's assurances of subsidized LPG cylinders, financial support for pregnant women, and access to free OPD and diagnostic services.

He also committed to increasing pensions for the elderly and widows.

Highlighting the government's initiative to establish a 100-day action plan for all departments, L-G Saxena stated that improving the conditions of roads, sewage systems, water supply, and drainage will be a top priority.

"In its initial Cabinet meeting, the government resolved to present the CAG report in the Assembly to analyze and address the administrative shortcomings of the previous government," he said.

To generate revenue for comprehensive development, the L-G pledged a series of initiatives to foster economic activity.

"My government aspires to make Delhi the cleanest metropolitan area in the nation and achieve a leading position in the Swatchh Bharat rankings by tackling waste management issues and transforming landfills into green spaces like Bansera developed by the DDA," he noted.

L-G Saxena also criticized the previous administration for obstructing constructive debates in the Assembly and for using it as a platform to undermine constitutional authorities.

The L-G's address was succeeded by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presenting the CAG report in the Assembly, with legislators participating in the 'Vote of Thanks' for the L-G's remarks.

Earlier, 12 Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs, including Leader of Opposition Atishi, were suspended from the Delhi Assembly for disruptive behavior during the L-G's speech.

The Delhi Assembly's three-day session commenced on Monday with the swearing-in of the newly elected MLAs and the nomination of the House Speaker and Deputy Speaker. The final sitting of the current session is set for Thursday.
