Dharamsala, Jan 23 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhvinder Sukhu, revealed on Thursday plans for an international convention centre to be constructed at Tapovan, backed by an investment of Rs 150 crore.

This convention centre aims to facilitate seminars by multinational corporations, enhance tourism, and generate job opportunities for the local youth.

Additionally, the Chief Minister announced several other initiatives, including the operational launch of the Public Health Centre in Yol Cantonment and funding for a bridge construction in the IT Park.

He emphasized that the government will remain steadfast in its commitment to combating corruption, highlighting that the previous BJP administration exacerbated the divide between the wealthy and the impoverished, with allegations of government jobs being sold.

The Chief Minister pointed to the police recruitment scam as a blatant example of the betrayal faced by unemployed youth.

Under his leadership, the current government is committed to transparency, initiating vigilance inquiries into irregularities within the Jal Shakti Department’s Theog division, and taking stringent measures against corrupt practices.

He accused the BJP government of abusing state resources for political gain, while asserting that his administration is focused on benefiting the common citizen.

In a significant move, the government fulfilled its electoral promise by reinstating the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) for 1.36 lakh government employees, vowing that OPS will remain in effect as long as the Congress party holds power in the state.

He noted that the central government has reduced the state’s loan limit by Rs 1,600 crore and imposed further restrictions concerning the reinstatement of OPS.

The Chief Minister highlighted that nearly Rs 9,000 crore allocated under the National Pension System is still pending with the central government, which is pressuring the state to adopt the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS).

Moreover, he mentioned that the central government has not disbursed Post Disaster Need Assessment (PDNA) funds designated for disaster-affected regions in Himachal Pradesh, and the request for a special relief package has been denied.
