New Delhi, Dec 28 (NationPress) Senior BJP leader and MP Ravi Shankar Prasad has launched a fierce critique of the Congress party following remarks made by veteran leader Digvijaya Singh regarding the organizational prowess of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Prasad suggested that Singh's comments represent a long-overdue recognition of the BJP's formidable grassroots network.

In response to Singh’s statements, Prasad remarked, “It’s encouraging that Digvijaya has come to realize the strength of the BJP organization after such a long time.” He then targeted the Congress leadership, particularly Rahul Gandhi, questioning his standing within his own party.

“What can Rahul Gandhi say when he’s not taken seriously by the public? It seems even his party has lost faith in him. Senior leaders like Digvijaya Singh have pointed out that Rahul doesn’t listen, so what’s the point of communicating with him?” Prasad added that the Congress has been weakened by repeated electoral failures, claiming the party has been diminished in several municipal elections and local bodies, underperforming even in states such as Maharashtra and Bihar. “He doesn’t even have the potential to manage an electric rickshaw,” Prasad quipped.

The political tension escalated after Digvijaya Singh posted an old black-and-white photograph of Prime Minister Narendra Modi alongside BJP veteran Lal Krishna Advani on social media platform X. Singh praised the BJP and its ideological origin, the RSS, for their organizational strength, asserting that the image signifies how an RSS grassroots volunteer and a BJP worker can ascend to the roles of chief minister and eventually prime minister.

“This illustrates the power of organization,” Singh stated, referencing the journey depicted in the photograph, showing PM Modi, Advani, and others at a public rally.

Within the Congress, Singh’s comments triggered varied responses. Congress Rajya Sabha MP Rajni Patil defended him, asserting, “There was nothing wrong with what Digvijaya Singh conveyed; he merely stated the truth as he sees it.”

BJP MLA Ram also supported Singh’s remarks, saying, “The truth has emerged, whether intentionally or not. Even Shashi Tharoor has acknowledged Prime Minister Modi positively. Numerous senior Congress figures, including Jyotiraditya Scindia, have distanced themselves from Rahul Gandhi and opted to collaborate with the Prime Minister. It’s apparent that even former Chief Ministers and senior Congress leaders, despite their official titles, are speaking their minds. Under pressure from the Congress party, their public statements merely aim to placate Congress leaders. The truth cannot remain concealed; it often surfaces in their personal posts.

Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC remarked, “This is an internal issue for the Congress party. If Digvijaya Singh wishes to voice his concerns publicly, that should be respected. However, it’s crucial to understand that this isn’t solely about him; it reflects the dire situation of a once-mighty party. His statements echo a sentiment prevalent among Congress supporters, which suggests they might soon struggle to even hold the position of Leader of the Opposition.”

Meanwhile, Congress leader T.S. Singh Deo sought to clarify Singh’s statements, suggesting there’s nothing wrong with acknowledging effective organizational strategies. “If an organization has effective practices to adopt, what’s wrong with that? This isn’t about the RSS. As far as I know, Digvijaya Singh has clearly stated that he completely opposes RSS ideology,” Singh Deo explained.

The ongoing controversy has once again underscored the internal divisions within the Congress party.
