New Delhi, Dec 27 (NationPress) Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and Congress Rajya Sabha member Digvijaya Singh took to social media on Saturday to share a significant photo from 1996 featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi alongside L.K. Advani. He commended the BJP and the RSS for their ability to elevate grassroots workers—implicitly referencing PM Modi—into esteemed roles such as Chief Minister and Prime Minister.
Singh remarked, "I stumbled upon this impactful image on Quora. It illustrates how the grassroots swayamsevaks of the RSS and BJP sit humbly at the feet of their leaders, only to rise as Chief Ministers and the Prime Minister of India. This truly reflects the strength of the organization. Jai Siya Ram," on X.
The post quickly gained traction within political circles, coinciding with a Congress Working Committee meeting in Delhi, which led to speculation about whether Singh was conveying a message to his colleagues.
The photo, along with Singh's commentary, was also directed towards the party's National President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, and Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
This historical image illustrates PM Modi's rise in Gujarat's political landscape, reportedly taken during the swearing-in of former Gujarat Chief Minister Shankersinh Vaghela in 1996, attended by prominent BJP leaders of that era.
The image depicted veteran BJP leader Advani seated during the event, while PM Modi, then an organizational leader, was shown sitting on the floor beside him.
Earlier, on December 19, Singh had stirred controversy by urging LoP Rahul Gandhi to consider reforms within the party.
He proposed a more pragmatic, decentralized approach for the Congress and concluded his post with, "The only challenge is convincing you!"
BJP spokesperson C. R. Kesavan responded via social media, demanding accountability from Rahul Gandhi regarding Singh's recent tweets.
"Will Rahul Gandhi muster the courage to address the startling revelations made by Shri. Digvijaya Singh's tweet, which exposes the dictatorial manner in which the Congress's first family operates and the autocratic nature of its leadership?" Kesavan inquired.
