Bhopal/New Delhi, Dec 30 (NationPress) Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh addressed the political uproar following his remarks praising the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) via a social media post, asserting on Tuesday that he will never waver from the Congress ideology as long as he is in politics.

Congress Rajya Sabha MP Singh emphasized that he has adhered to the Nehru-Gandhi ideology throughout his life and will steadfastly uphold it until his death.

He further stated that he won’t oppose the Nehru-Gandhi family.

"Digvijaya Singh will never compromise on three principles. First, my loyalty lies with the Nehru Gandhi family, its ideology, and I will advocate for social unity until my last breath," the seasoned Congress leader declared.

Last week, he shared a social media post ahead of a Congress Working Committee meeting in Delhi, commending the organizational strength of the RSS-BJP framework, which ignited discussions and speculations about his political trajectory.

Singh posted an old photograph of Prime Minister Narendra Modi alongside veteran BJP leader L.K. Advani and remarked on X, "I stumbled upon this picture. It is quite striking. Witness how a grassroots RSS volunteer and a Jan Sangh and BJP worker, seated at the feet of leaders, ascended to become the Chief Minister of a state and the Prime Minister of the country. This exemplifies organizational strength. Jai Siya Ram."

This social media activity drew criticism from within the Congress party.

Congress leader Pawan Khera sharply countered, stating that Mahatma Gandhi's organization does not require lessons from Godse's organization.

In light of the backlash over his post, Digvijaya Singh clarified that he is firmly against the ideology of the RSS and Prime Minister Modi, emphasizing that his comments were solely about recognizing organizational discipline, not political alignment.

Earlier on Monday, veteran BJP figure and former Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra, known for his critiques of Digvijaya Singh, expressed surprise over the latter's praise for the RSS-BJP.

"Digvijaya Singh may be exerting pressure on the Congress high command to secure another Rajya Sabha term, similar to his actions in 2020. His pressure led to turmoil in the previous Congress-led government in Madhya Pradesh," Mishra commented, alluding to the fall of the Kamal Nath led Congress government in Madhya Pradesh in 2020.

Point of View

It is imperative to recognize that Digvijaya Singh's reaffirmation of his allegiance to the Nehru-Gandhi ideology serves as a critical barometer for the Congress party's direction amidst current political turbulence. His statements reflect the ongoing tensions within the party while also highlighting the complexities of political loyalty in a rapidly changing landscape. This situation demands careful observation as it unfolds.
