Chennai, Sep 26 (NationPress) Diya Suriya, the daughter of renowned actors Suriya and Jyothika, has officially stepped into the director's shoes with a docu-drama named 'Leading Light'.

In a fascinating twist, the 17-year-old's debut project is backed by her parents, Suriya and Jyothika, under their production house, 2D Entertainment.

Insiders reveal that this docu-drama centers around the lives of female gaffers in Bollywood. It brings to light the untold narratives of women working behind the camera as light-women in the film industry, merging elements of documentary and drama.

'Leading Light' is currently being showcased at the Oscar Qualifying Run at Regency Theatre in Los Angeles, California. The screenings are scheduled from September 26 to October 2, with daily shows at 12:00 PM.

This 13-minute docu-drama includes intimate interviews with three trailblazing women in the industry.

According to the description on the Regency theatres' site, 'Leading Light' encapsulates the experiences of women behind the lens. Besides Diya Suriya, it features Hetall Deddhia, Priyanka Singh, and Leena Gangurde.

Meanwhile, Diya's father, actor Suriya, has an array of films on his slate, including RJ Balaji's 'Karuppu', which is expected to be among the first of his upcoming projects to release. A teaser for this film showcases a deity named Karuppu being worshipped with chili powder, accompanied by a voiceover stating, "It's not a calm deity you worship with grace. If you pray sincerely and offer chilies, it's a fierce deity that delivers instant justice."

The teaser introduces Suriya's character, portraying him as a lawyer named Saravanan, who also goes by the name Karuppu.

The clip suggests that the film will be a full-fledged commercial entertainer packed with action. Suriya is seen delivering many punchy lines, including, "Blast! My brother, this is our time, I'm gonna give you all a whacking."

Trisha stars as the female lead, accompanied by Malayalam actors Indrans, Sshivada, Swasika, and Tamil actors Yogi Babu and cinematographer Natty in crucial roles.

The film features music by rising star Sai Abhyankkar and cinematography by GK Vishnu, who gained recognition for his work in films like 'Bigil', 'Jawan', and 'Mersal'.

R Kalaivanan is the editor, with Vikram Mor choreographing stunts and Arun Venjaramoodu serving as art director.
