On the same day, a new District Magistrate was appointed for East Midnapore, which is notably the constituency of the Leader of the Opposition, Suvendu Adhikari.

In conjunction with this, the Commission executed a reshuffle that involved five Additional District Magistrates (ADMs) across different districts.

Unice Rishin Ismail, the former District Magistrate, faced allegations regarding the hiring of contractual staff just prior to the Assembly elections, leading to his transfer. Niranjan Kumar has now stepped in as the new District Magistrate.

Moreover, five other IAS officers were reassigned. Tejaswi Rana, previously a Special Secretary in North 24 Parganas, is now the Returning Officer for the Bhatpara Assembly constituency. Aditya Vikram Mohan, the Additional District Magistrate of Alipurduar, has been designated as Returning Officer for the Raninagar constituency in Murshidabad.

Lastly, Srinivas Venkatrao Patil, the Additional District Magistrate of Bankura, is the new Returning Officer for the Baishnabnagar constituency in Malda district.

The dates for the upcoming Assembly elections were announced on March 15, prompting the Commission to initiate a significant administrative reshuffle that very night.

In a surprising move, both the State Chief Secretary and the Home Secretary were replaced late at night. The following day, on March 16, the Director General of State Police and the Commissioner of Kolkata Police were also dismissed.

Since these developments, the Election Commission has continued to implement extensive restructuring within both bureaucratic and police ranks, including the simultaneous transfer of Superintendents of Police (SPs) across 12 districts.
