PM Modi Predicts 2021 Nandigram Results Will Influence Bhabanipur and Entire Bengal
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Kolkata, April 9 (NationPress) The electoral outcomes from the Nandigram Assembly constituency in East Midnapore district during the 2021 elections are expected to mirror across the entire state this time, particularly in the Bhabanipur Assembly constituency of South Kolkata, as stated by the Prime Minister on Thursday.
“In 2021, Nandigram, located in East Midnapore, was the first to demonstrate that transformation is achievable in West Bengal. The current demeanor of the populace in West Bengal is an indication that the outcomes witnessed in Nandigram in 2021 will be reflected across the whole state, notably in Bhabanipur,” the Prime Minister commented during a campaign rally in Haldia, which is adjacent to Nandigram.
During the 2021 elections, the Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, emerged victorious against the then-Trinamool Congress candidate and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Subsequently, she won a by-election in Bhabanipur, securing her position as Chief Minister for a third consecutive term.
This election, Adhikari is contesting from both Nandigram and Bhabanipur, where he faces off against the Chief Minister.
At the Haldia rally, the Prime Minister also criticized the “cruel” governance of the Trinamool Congress, asserting that West Bengal is regressing while the rest of the nation progresses.
“Many industrial units in Haldia, once a bustling industrial hub of the state, have ceased operations under the current administration. However, a wave of change is on the horizon for West Bengal, and a transformation is imminent,” the Prime Minister declared.
He emphasized that should the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) gain control in West Bengal following the elections later this month, there would be a clear strategy to create job opportunities for the youth through regular Rozgar Mela (Employment Fairs), similar to initiatives in other BJP-led states.
“A double-engine government led by the BJP is crucial for propelling West Bengal forward,” PM Modi asserted.
He also mentioned that the 7th Pay Commission would be implemented in the state if the BJP assumes power.
Furthermore, he assured that the BJP in West Bengal would adhere strictly to Constitutional provisions, ensuring every citizen receives the services they are entitled to while safeguarding their democratic rights.
According to him, the Trinamool Congress is unfit for governance primarily due to the dismal state of women’s safety in West Bengal. “A woman doctor is not safe in her workplace, and girls aspiring to be advocates suffer harassment in their educational institutions. The women of West Bengal deserve relief from such circumstances,” the Prime Minister stated.
He stated that a major priority for the BJP is to eliminate illegal infiltrators while simultaneously ensuring citizenship for religious refugees.
