Political Shift in Bengal: LoP Suvendu Adhikari Highlights Change
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Kolkata, March 26 (NationPress) The Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, remarked on Thursday, "Even the foundational elements of state administration in West Bengal are beginning to acknowledge that a political transformation in the state is unavoidable, leading them to adopt a more responsible demeanor."
“We are prepared to challenge the Trinamool Congress at every opportunity. Just last night, the local authorities attempted to confiscate bamboo designated for our party's political platform. I have made it clear to the police that the political climate in West Bengal is shifting.”
“The state's administrative framework has also started to recognize this shift and is acting with greater accountability,” Adhikari stated following a procession held for Ram Navami in the Bhabanipur Assembly constituency in South Kolkata on Thursday afternoon.
Notably, in Bhabanipur, LoP Adhikari is facing off against the formidable Trinamool Congress candidate and current Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee.
Adhikari is concurrently contesting from his former seat in Nandigram, located in East Midnapore, where he served two terms previously—first with the Trinamool Congress and later with the BJP.
The Ram Navami procession, led by Adhikari, traversed various areas of Bhabanipur before concluding at Hazra crossing, just a short distance from the Chief Minister's residence. The event drew a notable presence of both monks and BJP supporters.
During the event, Adhikari expressed his belief that following the two-phase Assembly elections in West Bengal, "Ram Raj will be established" in the state.
“Everyone will have job opportunities. No one will go hungry. Each person will have shelter, and women's safety will be prioritized,” he assured.
Later, he plans to join two additional Ram Navami processions in the neighboring Howrah district, one organized by the Vishva Hindu Parishad and the other by Anjani Putra Sena.
