Suvendu Adhikari: A Wave of Change for West Bengal
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Kharagpur, April 4 (NationPress) The Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, asserted on Saturday that a significant wave of transformation is currently resonating throughout the state, emphasizing that citizens from every corner are rallying for political change as the state elections approach.
During an election campaign in Kharagpur, Adhikari told IANS, "There is a singular wave across Bengal, stretching from Darjeeling to Digha and from Cooch Behar to Kakdwip. Everyone is united in this wave. The demand for change is palpable, and that change is underway."
He expressed his belief that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will establish a government in West Bengal, guided by the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Adhikari launched a fierce critique of the ruling Trinamool Congress, alleging that the party harbors anti-social individuals and extremist factions.
He further accused the ruling party of nominating individuals purportedly associated with illegal activities.
"Measures must be implemented against such anti-social elements, and genuine action will commence after May 4 when the BJP takes charge in West Bengal. Just as the people of Maharashtra, Odisha, and other regions have shown them a lesson, Bengal will follow suit," he remarked.
Regarding the role of the Election Commission of India (ECI), the LoP acknowledged their efforts to facilitate free and fair elections.
Nevertheless, he charged that certain factions of the police were not fully complying with ECI directives.
As the upcoming Assembly elections scheduled for April draw nearer, the political contest in West Bengal has intensified.
The ECI has declared that voting will occur in two phases: on April 23 and April 29.
The first phase will encompass 152 Assembly constituencies, while the second phase will involve 142 Assembly seats.
Adhikari is contesting from Nandigram in the Purba Medinipur district.
The electoral showdown is expected primarily between the BJP and the Trinamool Congress, with both parties vying for a majority to form the next government in the state.
