Key Takeaways
Bhopal, Nov 11 (NationPress) Chief Minister Mohan Yadav emphasized on Tuesday that the three-tier Panchayati Raj system empowers Sarpanchs (heads of grampanchayats) to significantly change their villages.
This statement was made during the 'Sarpanch United Front Conference' held at Jamboori ground in Bhopal, which attracted various Sarpanch associations.
"The journey of rural development is advancing with the support of sarpanchs. All welfare schemes and development initiatives at the village level are executed through the panchayats," Yadav remarked.
While addressing the audience, the Chief Minister noted that Grampanchayats are now authorized to conduct projects worth up to Rs 25 lakh. Additionally, he announced that each panchayat representative will receive Rs 50,000 for development purposes.
He stressed that, akin to urban administrations, panchayats require systems for planning and executing development projects. Panchayats will be empowered to draft village development plans.
In another announcement, the Chief Minister revealed that the state government intends to host a conference for panchayat representatives in Bhopal from November 24 to 26.
Moreover, he shared that the government has committed to providing office spaces for panchayat institutions at all three levels and will construct community halls in villages.
"With a robust Panchayati Raj system, the state government, along with the cooperation of panchayat representatives, is progressing towards self-reliant panchayats and a prosperous Madhya Pradesh," he asserted.
Yadav also mentioned that job-oriented industries are being established throughout the state, with 2026 set to be celebrated as the Year of Agriculture-Based Industries.
"To boost farmers’ income, food processing units for vegetables and other crops are being launched. Training is being provided to youth in horticulture and food processing to ensure that farmers receive fair prices for their produce," he concluded.
