New Delhi, Aug 14 (NationPress) On the eve of India’s 79th Independence Day, Anju Devi, the elected head of Devariya Taruanwa Gram Panchayat in Bihar, expressed sincere gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his visionary leadership, advocating for enhanced empowerment of women throughout society.
Speaking to IANS prior to the national celebration where grassroots leaders from all over the nation have been invited to the Red Fort as distinguished guests, Anju Devi remarked, “Prime Minister Modi is doing remarkable work for the entire country. His vision of a Digital India will certainly be realized in due time.”
Anju Devi, a proud female leader at the grassroots level, highlighted how 50 percent reservation in local governance has revolutionized the role of women in Indian society. “Previously, women were confined to the household. However, today, thanks to this reservation, women are stepping into leadership positions and actively participating in governance. I stand here as a testament to this transformation,” she stated.
She also emphasized that women — who make up half the population — must rise to claim their rightful place in society. “We need to come forward confidently and lead in every field. It’s essential that we advocate for our dignity and play active roles in shaping the future of our communities.”
Focusing on the positive effects of central government schemes, she pointed out that programs such as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, PM Kisan Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, and the Vishwakarma Scheme have provided substantial benefits to rural citizens.
Anju Devi also made a passionate appeal to the Prime Minister: “The government should enforce stricter measures wherever women face atrocities. Women’s safety and dignity must remain a primary concern.”
She concluded with an optimistic request, urging the central government to introduce more development projects in rural areas. “We want to see more digital initiatives reach our villages as well, so our gram panchayat can also become fully digital. We aspire to see our villages progress just like our cities.”
