Hyderabad, Nov 25 (NationPress) A significant fire incident occurred at an electronics shop in the historic part of Hyderabad, resulting in injuries to six individuals.
On Monday night, the blaze erupted in the electronics store located on Shahalibanda, reportedly sparked by a short circuit, which entirely destroyed the establishment. An explosion from a CNG cylinder in a vehicle parked nearby exacerbated the situation, causing the fire to escalate.
A total of eight fire engines, along with a skylift fire truck and a firefighting robot, were deployed to manage the inferno. Firefighters spent over two hours battling the flames.
The fire, originating from the electronics store, quickly spread to an adjacent warehouse and neighboring shops, leading to extensive property damage.
A clothing store was also completely consumed by the flames.
Nearby residences experienced shattered window panes due to the shockwave from the explosion.
It is believed that the fire intensified because of the detonation of multiple refrigerator cylinders, geysers, and various electronic items housed within the shop.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Zone), Khare Kiran Prabhakar, stated that, based on preliminary investigations, the fire was caused by a short circuit in the shop.
The flames also engulfed the CNG vehicle parked outside, leading to rapid fire spread due to the cylinder explosion.
At the time of the incident, several individuals were present in the shops, and some were seated in the car. The consequences of the fire and the explosion resulted in six people sustaining injuries, who were subsequently hospitalized.
The DCP informed the media that firefighters successfully managed to control the situation, averting further damage.
He urged the public to disregard false information circulating on social media and to rely solely on official communications from the police to avoid causing unnecessary panic.
Eyewitnesses reported that the loud explosion was audible within a one-kilometer radius, causing alarm among local residents.
Residents also noted that the clock on the nearby Rajarai Clock Tower stopped at the moment of the explosion.
