New Delhi, Feb 2 (NationPress) An examination of India’s security challenges and dialogues surrounding contemporary and future warfare strategies are set to be the primary focus at the third iteration of the tri-services Future Warfare Course commencing at the Manekshaw Centre, as per an official announcement made on Monday.
This session, taking place from February 2 to 25, features a revamped curriculum that encompasses specialized topics and domain-specific advancements in military operations, according to the Defence Ministry.
Organized under the auspices of Headquarters, Integrated Defence Staff, in collaboration with the Centre for Joint Warfare Studies (CENJOWS), this course aims to cultivate a profound comprehension of how technology is reshaping warfare, prompting a reassessment of our concepts, doctrines, and strategies.
Building upon the achievements of the inaugural course conducted in September 2024, this expanded three-week program is designed to fulfill the vision set forth by the Chief of the Defence Staff, General Anil Chauhan, to equip officers for the intricate challenges posed by modern warfare.
The curriculum also encourages an in-depth investigation of vital topics, practical demonstrations of emerging technologies, and visits to institutions crucial to enhancing the capabilities of the defence forces.
Participants include representatives from all three services, alongside members from the defence industry, encompassing startups, MSMEs, DPSUs, and private entities.
Within the ranks of service participants, officer seniority ranges from majors to major generals (and their equivalents), allowing junior officers to contribute their technical skills while senior officers bring operational experience and strategic insights.
The Future Warfare Course will align the operational priorities of the armed forces with the capabilities of the indigenous defence industry, fostering open discussions about various aspects of modern and future warfare, as stated by the officials.
A broad array of specialists, including veterans, serving officers, former ambassadors, industry leaders, and academic professionals, will ensure a comprehensive analysis of security challenges is conducted in a thorough and professional manner.
Furthermore, this course will include experts addressing topics such as critical and rare earth elements, supply chain vulnerabilities, and regional and global geopolitics that impact future operations, thereby broadening the range of subjects that Defence Forces must study and analyze for effective operational planning.
