Jaipur, April 6 (NationPress) Following a decision by a division bench of the Rajasthan High Court to uphold the cancellation of the Sub-Inspector (SI) Recruitment Exam 2021 due to claims of paper leakage and impersonation, senior Congress figure Ashok Gehlot urged the current BJP administration on Monday to take action rather than point fingers at the previous Congress regime.

In a press briefing, Gehlot stated, “Act in line with the legal framework. We governed then; they are in charge now. During our tenure, there were reports of question paper leaks nationwide -- from Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Punjab, to Bihar -- it was a widespread issue. Organised criminal groups were operating across various states.

“How much longer will they continue to blame us? It has been two years already. It's perplexing when they will assume accountability and begin fulfilling their duties,” he remarked.

Gehlot emphasized that the present government should concentrate on its obligations. “Let them execute their responsibilities. The judiciary should operate independently; the SOG must perform its role; and the ACB should take action as necessary. Those who warrant punishment should face it; those who belong behind bars should be incarcerated. Who is hindering them? Instead, they are squandering time by attacking the prior administration with the intent of tarnishing its reputation. How long do they plan to persist in this manner?” he queried.

When asked about comments from the son of Kanhaiya Lal, the Udaipur tailor murdered by terrorists, who claimed he has yet to see justice, Gehlot replied, “I have never encountered such a lack of shame. The Home Minister asserts that the state has failed to establish a special court. But were we ever approached about this? Our government left office merely months later. So what is the rationale for raising this concern now?

“Those who are deserving of prison should be imprisoned; who is stopping them? They are wasting time disparaging the previous government in an effort to tarnish its image. How long will this cycle continue?” he questioned.

Point of View

Ashok Gehlot's remarks reflect a growing frustration with political accountability. The focus on the SI Exam scandal underlines the pressing need for current administrations to address issues rather than deflect blame.
