Jaipur, Nov 17 (NationPress) Former Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot, issued a strong rebuttal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, affirming that the Congress party will continue to stand united.

“The statement made by PM Modi is absurd. They have been unable to appoint a national president for their own party, BJP, for two years. So, who is truly divided—the BJP or Congress?” he questioned.

While addressing the media at Jaipur Airport, Gehlot remarked that PM Modi frequently engages in rhetoric. “Congress is well-equipped to counter the central government's misuse of agencies. We will confront this issue collectively,” he emphasized.

Reflecting on the BJP’s loss in the Anta by-election, Gehlot highlighted that Congress triumphed by 15,000 votes, attributing this success to the current government's failures.

“The welfare initiatives we implemented during our administration are still talked about nationwide. Even now, people in rural areas reminisce about those programs and lament the absence of the Congress government,” he stated.

He accused the BJP administration of undermining or discontinuing popular schemes.

“Since they assumed office, they have either watered down or completely eliminated initiatives like the Annapurna Yojana, pensions, scholarships, and health and education programs. There is public discontent, but their voices remain unheard,” he claimed.

On the recent Bihar election results, Gehlot expressed astonishment at the scale of monetary influence exerted, noting that new revelations are surfacing daily.

“The Rs 10,000 transferred to women's accounts is one thing, but the election was solely won through financial clout,” he remarked.

Regarding the appointment of the new Chief Secretary, V. Srinivas, Gehlot stated that the former Chief Secretary, Sudhansh Pant, possessed considerable experience in Rajasthan.

“He effectively advised and supported the Chief Minister’s Office,” he noted.

He added that the new Chief Secretary is a commendable individual.

“I am acquainted with him, but he has been away from Rajasthan for two decades. He may lack the necessary coordination and interaction with officers that this position requires,” he commented.

Gehlot remarked that the Principal Secretary to the CM and other senior officials will now have to take on added responsibilities.

“Only time will reveal how the new Chief Secretary performs without on-ground experience,” he concluded.
