Mumbai, March 13 (NationPress) Esteemed filmmaker Subhash Ghai recently featured on the acclaimed podcast "Game Changers", which is hosted by trade analyst Komal Nahta.
During the episode, the director discussed the crucial role of music in his films. Renowned for a series of musical successes, Ghai provided his distinctive viewpoint on how he integrated music into his storytelling.
Nahta inquired, "Music has always been a significant aspect of your films. You produced one blockbuster song after another. Was there a distinct method you employed in creating your music? What was your approach?"
Responding thoughtfully, Ghai stated, "In our era, despite having even more monumental musical hits, the key difference was my perception of music as poetry. To me, Anand Bakshi surpassed Laxmikant Pyarelal and Rahman. I would write the spoken dialogues, while you [Anand Bakshi] composed the sung dialogues. When we crafted the 'antara' (stanza), it felt as if he understood my story better than I did."
The director of 'Taal' further highlighted the profound relationship between music and narrative within his projects, recognizing the significant impact of lyricist Anand Bakshi in encapsulating the essence of his tales into enduring songs.
Additionally, during the podcast, Ghai modestly refrained from claiming credit for elevating actors like Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Madhuri Dixit, and Meenakshi Seshadri to stardom.
The creator of 'Karz' remarked that these actors were always meant to shine, and fate simply aligned their paths to enable them to bring out the best in one another.
When asked by Nahta about his method of transforming these actors into stars, Ghai explained, “I didn’t make them stars; their destiny did. Fate united us, and I recognized their genuine, earnest nature, much like eager students ready to learn. They didn’t come off as phony, superficial, or glamorous. That’s why I encouraged collaborations, whether it was with Jackie, Madhuri, Anil, or Sanju.”
