During the inauguration of the 300th birth anniversary celebration of Rani Ahilyabai Holkar at Ravindra Kalakshetra, he emphasized the importance of education in uplifting marginalized communities, stating that Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's principles of "education, organisation, and struggle" have paved the way for women and 'Shudras' to access literacy.
He shared a personal anecdote about his grandmother's belief that the Kurubas community was distant from education, contrasting it with his own journey to become Chief Minister after earning a law degree. He noted that Rani Ahilyabai's educational reforms serve as a beacon of inspiration for women's empowerment.
CM Siddaramaiah remarked, "Those who do not know history cannot shape the future" while praising Rani Ahilyabai Holkar for her focus on governance and social reforms, including efforts to end child marriage. He acknowledged her secular mindset and support for inter-caste marriages.
He stressed that true social and economic empowerment for women through education is essential to eliminate inequality and foster social development. He asserted, "No one becomes lazy because of our government’s welfare schemes; rather, they attain social empowerment."
The Chief Minister highlighted various initiatives like Gruha Lakshmi and Shakti aimed at empowering women, stating these programs have strengthened society rather than fostered laziness.
Additionally, he announced that land will be allocated in Bengaluru for the Karnataka Ahilyabai Mahila Samaja. He commended the Karnataka State Ahilyabai Holkar Women’s Association on completing 25 years, recognizing Yellamma and all contributors for their hard work.
