New Delhi, Nov 12 (NationPress) Commerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced on Wednesday that the Department of Commerce will provide comprehensive support for all tribal products with export potential through various channels. These include e-commerce platforms, international warehouses for product display and sales, as well as wholesale and retail trade networks.
While addressing the Tribal Business Conclave 2025 in New Delhi, the minister disclosed that a new scheme is being formulated to bolster export promotion efforts. This initiative aims to ensure that tribal products receive the visibility and market access they deserve in both domestic and international markets.
The conclave, organized by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), in collaboration with the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and the Ministry of Culture, commemorated the 150th birth anniversary of Birsa Munda during the Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh.
Paying tribute to Birsa Munda, Goyal highlighted his significant role in guiding the tribal community. He urged the nation to draw inspiration from Munda's life to uplift tribal communities and ensure that every tribal household experiences happiness and prosperity.
Goyal underlined the vast opportunities present in both domestic and international markets for tribal goods and crafts. The government is committed to taking necessary actions to leverage this potential in the upcoming years.
He reiterated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi believes that the true prosperity of the nation is intertwined with the well-being of its indigenous people. India's growth hinges on ensuring that progress reaches every home, especially in tribal and remote areas. The upliftment of tribal and indigenous communities remains a primary focus for the government, reflecting its commitment to inclusive and sustainable development.
Additionally, Goyal announced that the budget for the Ministry of Tribal Affairs has been increased by 50% this year. He revealed that under the PM-Janman Yojana, nearly 50 lakh families from particularly vulnerable tribal groups have benefited, with Rs. 24,000 crore allocated to enhance their quality of life.
The event featured over 250 tribal enterprises, with 150 exhibitors and more than 100 tribal start-ups showcasing their innovations at the "Roots to Rise" pitching platform. This initiative fostered direct connections between entrepreneurs, investors, corporates, and government buyers, creating a dynamic ecosystem for collaboration and growth.
Buyer-seller meetings were also organized to establish actionable pathways for market access, skill development, and policy recommendations aimed at strengthening tribal value chains from villages to global markets.
