Ahmedabad, Aug 3 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel, has given his nod for developmental projects totaling Rs 4,179 crore aimed at enhancing urban living across the state, as part of the ongoing ‘Urban Development Year – 2025’.
These initiatives, approved under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana, are set to benefit seven municipal corporations, including Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, Gandhinagar, along with the newly established corporations of Morbi, Porbandar, and Nadiad, as well as twelve municipalities such as Visnagar, Patan, Una, Halvad, and Savarkundla.
The Chief Minister envisions creating “citizen-first” cities that prioritize smart infrastructure, sustainability, and inclusive growth. From the total budget, Rs 3,768 crore has been earmarked specifically for infrastructure advancements.
For Ahmedabad, Rs 2,940 crore will be allocated towards 252 urban mobility and civic infrastructure initiatives. Vadodara will receive Rs 455 crore for 349 projects, while Rajkot is set to get Rs 367 crore for 302 works. Newly recognized Porbandar has been assigned Rs 6.20 crore for 11 projects. Additionally, Rs 219 crore has been approved for developing iconic roads and Gaurav Paths in various urban locales.
Rajkot is poised to lead with Rs 136 crore for significant road enhancements, followed by Morbi with Rs 15 crore, Nadiad with Rs 13 crore, Una with Rs 17.76 crore, Halvad with Rs 19.28 crore, and Khambhaliya receiving Rs 5 crore. To bolster essential services like water supply and stormwater drainage, the state has approved Rs 93 crore for related works.
Out of this, Rs 61.64 crore is allocated for Morbi, Rs 19.28 crore for Savarkundla, and Rs 11.31 crore for Dhanera. Furthermore, municipalities like Veraval, Patan, and Amod will collectively receive Rs 14 crore for initiatives aimed at enhancing urban identity and local character.
Moreover, under the Private Society Participation Scheme, Visnagar, Borsad, and Viramgam will benefit from Rs 2.72 crore aimed at establishing public-private partnerships in civic development. Areas on the outskirts of cities, known as outgrowth regions, will not be overlooked.
Rajkot will be allocated Rs 80 crore, while Patan will receive Rs 2.72 crore for specialized development projects in these rapidly urbanizing areas. This comprehensive urban upgrade initiative underscores the commitment to create inclusive, livable cities equipped to accommodate a growing population with improved infrastructure, efficient public services, and sustainable design.
