Gandhinagar, June 30 (NationPress) Senior IPS officer Vikas Sahay has been awarded a six-month extension as the Director General of Police (DGP) of Gujarat, marking him as the fourth police chief in the state to receive such an extension post-retirement.
Sahay continues the tradition set by former DGPs Ashish Bhatia, S. S. Khandwawala, and Shivanand Jha, all of whom enjoyed similar post-retirement extensions during their service.
Among these leaders, Ashish Bhatia had the longest extension of eight months after his expected retirement on May 30, 2022. Shivanand Jha, who is from the 1983 IPS batch, received a three-month extension following his retirement on April 30, 2020.
In addition, S. S. Khandwawala was granted a three-month extension in 2010. Vikas Sahay, born in June 1965, is a veteran IPS officer hailing from the 1989 Gujarat cadre.
