Ahmedabad, Nov 25 (NationPress) The ‘DGP’s Commendation Disc-2024’ award ceremony took place at the Gujarat Police Academy in Karai, Gandhinagar, chaired by Director General of Police Vikas Sahay.
The annual recognition, initiated in 2019 to celebrate remarkable commitment, courage, and service within the Gujarat Police, celebrated its sixth edition this year with the presence of police families, senior officials, and personnel from throughout the state.
In his address, DGP Sahay congratulated the 110 award-winning officers and personnel, extending special gratitude to their families, whom he referred to as the “strongest support system” for every police official.
“We identify ourselves not merely as Gujarat Police, but as the Gujarat Police Family,” he stated.
Highlighting unity as the force's most significant asset, he underscored the pride associated with the uniform and the prestige of earning a police medal.
DGP Sahay pointed out that the awardees were chosen after a thorough evaluation of their recent efforts, acknowledging that while many officers excelled, the award policy permits only 110 recognitions annually.
He urged those not selected this time to continue their outstanding service with renewed zeal.
Reiterating the importance of morale, DGP Sahay remarked, “Do not let anyone diminish the spirit of our police force. Work fearlessly, with self-respect and pride. If officers and personnel across all levels respect one another, every member under their command will be empowered to work without fear.”
He also commended police personnel across Gujarat—regardless of their award status—for their valuable contributions to maintaining law and order, deterring crime, and delivering citizen-focused policing.
“Our greatest strength is our unity and our ability to support each other,”
he concluded.
Earlier, DGP (Training) Neerja Gotru welcomed attendees and outlined the goals of the ceremony. The event was attended by CID Crime DGP K.L.N. Rao, Ahmedabad Police Commissioner G.S. Malik, Karai Academy in-charge Acharya P.L. Mal, senior officers, police personnel, and their families.
