Mumbai, Dec 23 (NationPress) Haseen Mastan Mirza, the daughter of the late underworld figure Haji Mastan, has called upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for justice regarding allegations of sexual assault, forced marriage, and unlawful seizure of her property.
In a discussion with IANS, Haseen accused her maternal uncle's son, Naseer Hussain, of attempting to sexually assault her and subsequently forcing her into marriage when she was merely 12 years old in 1996.
She emphasized that the suffering she has faced is unrelated to her father's identity while he was alive and only commenced after his passing.
Haseen stated that as a minor during the alleged incidents, she experienced rape, ongoing mental and physical abuse, and was dispossessed of her property after her identity was hidden.
"I have appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to implement stricter laws to instill fear in criminals who act with impunity. This is my primary demand... I was raped, my unborn child was killed, and I was married off against my will, only to be abandoned on the streets; I was left with nothing," Haseen Mirza told IANS.
She revealed that she has been pursuing the case since 2013 but has faced challenges securing consistent legal support due to financial limitations. Haseen also claimed she received no assistance from law enforcement throughout this period.
"The police did not assist me. If they had, my mother would have been with me, and I would have achieved justice," she remarked, adding that intervention from Prime Minister Modi could prevent the case from being overlooked.
"If PM Modi intervenes, this case will not be ignored," she asserted.
Reflecting on a distressing experience from her adolescence, Haseen recounted, "When I suffered a miscarriage at age 14, my aunt attempted to involve the police and send me to a juvenile facility... The police came to our home, recognized I was only 14, yet did not offer any help."
She also disclosed that the prolonged trauma led her to attempt suicide in 2010 following her divorce.
Haseen believes that her father’s wealth was the motive behind the crimes committed against her.
"Had I not been born as Haji Mastan's daughter, I would not have faced these adversities. The perpetrators were driven by greed. After my father’s death, they believed they could seize our wealth. The motivations behind the rape and forced marriage were financial. My ex-husband even admitted he raped me because of my lineage," she revealed to IANS.
Despite the turmoil, she expressed a desire to protect her father's legacy.
"My father was a man of goodwill who helped many during his life; I do not want his reputation tarnished. I am proud to be his daughter and am fighting this battle in his honor," Haseen stated.
She dismissed rumors regarding a political career, insisting she has no such intentions.
"I know many in politics but do not wish to enter that realm. I simply want those in power, currently the BJP, to perform their duties diligently," she added.
Haseen supported Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s controversial bulldozer actions, stating, "I even tweeted about this. I want him to come to Mumbai and take action at my residence, where criminals reside. My ex-husband raped me; CM Yogi ensures justice for victims under his rule."
Additionally, she revealed that she received an invitation to join the reality show 'Bigg Boss' but declined out of concern for her mental well-being.
Her plea follows a recent Instagram video in which she shared her ongoing fight for justice and again called upon Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Shah to step in, claiming she has been denied justice for years.
In the video, she commended the Prime Minister's decision to ban triple talaq while advocating for more stringent laws to ensure prompt justice in cases like hers, alleging misuse of religious law within Islam.
Haseen praised the swift passage of the triple talaq bill, asserting that it reflects the support of women who felt liberated from an unjust practice.
