Chandigarh, Aug 8 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Haryana, Nayab Singh Saini, announced on Friday that the government intends to reach out to the National Commission for Backward Classes to request the inclusion of the Gosain community in the Central list of Other Backward Classes (OBCs).
In celebration of Goswami Tulsidas Jayanti, a significant state-level event was held at the Chief Minister's residence.
The gathering saw the presence of esteemed representatives from the Goswami community, along with a large crowd from various parts of the state.
During his address, the Chief Minister revealed plans to establish a prominent ‘chowk’ (roundabout) and a library in Hisar, both named after Goswami Tulsidas-ji.
Moreover, he pledged Rs 31 lakh from his discretionary fund for the construction of a dharamshala for the Goswami Samaj Sabha located in Kurukshetra.
Emphasizing the cultural and social significance of the event, he remarked that this celebration showcases India's rich heritage, moral values, and societal harmony.
The legacy of Goswami Tulsidas-ji symbolizes devotion, wisdom, and righteousness. “He was not merely a poet or a saint but a visionary whose timeless work, ‘Ramcharitmanas’, directed Indian society towards the ideals of Lord Rama during a period of great despair and societal issues.”
The Chief Minister further stated that Tulsidas-ji’s teachings remain relevant and inspire all of humanity today.
Regarding governmental efforts, CM Saini noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has granted constitutional status to the National Commission for Backward Classes, which allows the OBC community to benefit from reservation in medical education, Sainik Schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas, and Navodaya Vidyalayas.
Following the principle of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’, the state government is dedicated to the welfare of all societal segments, he added.
At the event, the Chief Minister also honored students from the Goswami community who achieved outstanding results in the Class 10 and 12 board examinations.
He encouraged the community to remain united, to guide the youth positively, and to inspire them to become responsible citizens.
