Gurugram, April 26 (NationPress) The Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister Vipul Goel visited the waste management facility situated at Bandhwari to assess the ongoing operations at the plant on Saturday.
During his visit, he convened a meeting with municipal officials and representatives from various agencies involved in waste management efforts.
In this meeting, the Minister issued specific directives to expedite the garbage disposal processes and ensure completion within the designated timeline.
He emphasized that the state government is entirely dedicated to maintaining cleanliness and protecting the environment, and that any form of negligence in these areas will be unacceptable.
Present at the meeting were Gurugram Mayor Rajrani Malhotra, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Ashok Kumar Garg, Additional Municipal Commissioners Mahavir Prasad and Y.S. Gupta, Joint Commissioner Sumit Kumar, Executive Engineer Nijesh Kumar, along with additional officials and agency representatives.
The Minister sought updates from officials regarding the plant's operations, machinery conditions, and the current waste processing status.
He remarked that the Bandhwari facility is crucial for the region's waste management and stressed that there should be no delays in its operations.
He instructed all relevant agencies to collaborate and address challenges as a priority.
"To uphold the pristine image of a metropolis like Gurugram, any negligence in waste management will be strictly addressed," he stated.
He also insisted on ensuring no compromises on work quality, advocating the use of state-of-the-art methods in waste management.
Meanwhile, the Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG) has devised a plan to construct a new drain to prevent leachate from the Bandhwari landfill site from contaminating the Aravalli forests region.
In conjunction with the drain construction, a boundary wall will also be erected around the landfill, as stated by officials.
This drain and boundary wall will be built by the corporation in front of the Bandhwari plant and along the village's government road to ensure that toxic water from the garbage during the rainy season does not flow towards the village and road.
The MCG will undertake the drain construction at a cost of Rs 2.39 crore.
