Shimla, Jan 10 (NationPress) Himachal Pradesh's Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu convened a meeting on Saturday to assess the plans of the Transport and Labour and Employment Departments. He announced that the state would progressively transition from petrol taxis to electric vehicles.

The Chief Minister reiterated the government's commitment to environmental protection and the promotion of self-employment.
Under the first phase of the Rs 680 crore Rajiv Gandhi Start-up Scheme, financial assistance is being offered for acquiring e-taxis. This represents a significant advancement toward endorsing electric vehicles and ensuring youth self-reliance.
According to the Rajiv Gandhi E-Taxi Scheme, eligible youth can receive a 50% subsidy along with a guarantee for deploying their vehicles within government departments.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh, Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister (Innovation, Digital Technology and Governance) Gokul Butail, Additional Chief Secretary R.D. Nazeem, Secretary Priyanka Basu Ingty, Chief Minister's Secretary Rakesh Kanwar, and Labour Commissioner Virendra Sharma.
