New Delhi, March 27 (NationPress) Congress MP Imran Masood on Thursday vehemently criticized the controversial statements made by Sambhal Circle Officer (CO) Anuj Chaudhary, who suggested that individuals desiring to serve 'Sewaiyan' on Eid should also partake in 'Gujia' during Holi.
Imran Masood labeled Chaudhary as a “foolish officer, lacking intellect.”
He further stated, “Hatred cannot exist in society. Only love should prevail. There is no issue in eating Gujiya. Anyone who has a problem with consuming Gujiya should be ashamed. We should coexist with love.”
Masood pointed out that such remarks only foster division and undermine societal harmony.
Following his earlier remark regarding Holi, Chaudhary mentioned during a Peace Committee meeting on Wednesday, “If you want to serve Sewaiyan on Eid, you must also eat Gujiya on Holi.”
He emphasized the importance of mutual respect, stating, “They should eat Gujiya, and we should eat Sewaiyan. However, problems arise when one party is willing and the other is not. This leads to a breakdown of brotherhood, which should be avoided.”
The situation escalated when the Sambhal administration imposed a ban on offering Namaz on roads or rooftops.
In response, Imran Masood remarked, “Where is the necessity for legal action in this? Even Muslims should comprehend this. The roads belong to the government. If the government advises against offering Namaz on the road, then it should not be done. But will you impose a ban on Namaz itself?”
Masood raised alarms regarding restrictions on religious practices in public spaces, questioning whether this would unnecessarily instigate conflict.
He also addressed the recent resolution passed by the Tamil Nadu Assembly opposing the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, urging governments across India to clarify their positions on this matter.
He stated, “Just as Tamil Nadu passed this resolution, all governments advocating for the Muslim community must clarify their stance. West Bengal should also consider this, Bihar as well, and all governments should support it. Particularly, Nitish Kumar Ji and Chandrababu Naidu should clarify their positions.”
