New Delhi, Feb 12 (NationPress) The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Thursday that India is reviewing the invitation received from the United States to participate in the Board of Peace—a US-supported initiative aimed at fostering peace and initiating reconstruction and economic revitalization in Gaza.
The inaugural session of this newly established Board of Peace is set to take place on February 19.
During a weekly media briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized India's commitment to supporting efforts that promote peace, stability, and dialogue in West Asia. He also addressed a question regarding India's potential participation in the first meeting of the Gaza Peace Board.
"We have received an invitation from the US side to join the Board of Peace. We are currently assessing the proposal. As you know, India has consistently advocated for initiatives that foster peace, stability, and dialogue in West Asia. Our Prime Minister has embraced the initiative as a pathway towards sustainable and long-term peace in the region, including Gaza," he stated.
On February 2, Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a phone conversation with US President Donald Trump, wherein PM Modi conveyed India's backing for Trump's peace endeavors, deeming the US President's leadership critical for global peace, stability, and prosperity.
