Suva, Dec 15 (NationPress) – India's High Commissioner to Fiji, Suneet Mehta, met with Fiji's Minister for Immigration, Viliame B Naupoto, on Monday to discuss topics of mutual interest such as skilled mobility, people-to-people relationships, and the enhancement of bilateral relations.
In a statement shared on X, the Indian High Commission in Fiji expressed, "Veilomani Dosti. High Commissioner Suneet Mehta paid a courtesy visit to the Honorable Viliame B. Naupoto, Minister for Immigration, today. Constructive conversations took place regarding matters of mutual interest, including skilled mobility, people-to-people connections, and the further fortification of India-Fiji relations."
On December 11, the High Commission of India in Fiji, along with the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre in Suva, hosted a cultural evening featuring the Know India Programme (KIP) Alumni in Fiji. The alumni shared their experiences from their visits to India and engaged in enriching discussions.
The Indian High Commission in Fiji stated on X, "The High Commission of India in Fiji and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre hosted a lively Cultural Evening with the Know India Programme (KIP) Alumni in Fiji. We were privileged to have the Assistant Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs & Sugar Industry, Hon Shalen Kumar, as the Chief Guest."
"The evening united KIP alumni who reflected on their experiences in India, engaged in meaningful dialogues, and enjoyed cultural performances. KIP continues to foster connections between India and the global Indian diaspora, providing youth with opportunities to explore India’s rich culture and shared heritage," the statement added.
Earlier this month, Mehta also met with Fiji's Minister for Policing and Communications, Ioane Naivalurua, to discuss the enhancement of bilateral cooperation. During this meeting, Mehta reaffirmed India's dedication to sharing its expertise in large-scale digital identity systems, cyber-security, and innovative public service delivery with Fiji.
