New Delhi, March 25 (NationPress) The trade relationship between India and Taiwan witnessed a significant boost of 17% in 2025 compared to the prior year, reaching an impressive $12.5 billion, as reported by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center (TECC).
India's exports to Taiwan were valued at $3.3 billion, primarily including mineral fuels, aluminium, iron, steel, organic chemicals, and plastics. Conversely, Taiwan's exports to India totaled $9.2 billion, largely consisting of electronic integrated circuits, plastics, organic chemicals, electrical machinery, and iron and steel.
During the launch of the 'Taiwan Excellence' expo, Estela Chen, Director of the Economic Division at TECC, stated, “Taiwan is renowned for its pivotal role in semiconductors, AI servers, AIoT total solutions, and edge computing,” as reported by the Asian Community News website.
Last year marked a historic high in bilateral trade between Taiwan and India at $12.5 billion. This enhancing economic partnership is fostering investment and strengthening business collaborations between both nations.
Taiwanese companies are actively investing in India's electronics manufacturing, semiconductor, and automotive sectors, while Indian businesses are exploring lucrative opportunities in Taiwan’s information technology and engineering fields, Chen noted.
She emphasized that Taiwan is proud to be a reliable partner in India's flagship initiatives like Digital India and the India AI Mission. “From smartphone and IoT manufacturing to cutting-edge high-tech product design, Taiwan’s expertise is dedicated to advancing India’s digital transformation,” she added.
Currently, over 300 Taiwanese firms are operational in India.
However, when comparing Taiwan's bilateral trade with countries such as the USA ($246.43 billion), Mainland China ($100.1 billion), South Korea ($90.2 billion), and Japan ($84.85 billion), there remains substantial potential for progress with India.
The International Trade Administration of Taiwan highlights that as both countries are significant trading partners, there is an ongoing commitment to discussing and implementing mutually beneficial measures to expand bilateral trade.
