Tehran, June 17 (NationPress) India has called upon its citizens residing in Iran, along with Persons of Indian Origin (PIO), to evacuate Tehran and relocate to a more secure area while maintaining communication with the Embassy, amid rising tensions in the region.
As the conflict between Israel and Iran has now entered its fifth day, the confrontation between the two countries has intensified, with several missiles launched from Iran targeting Israel, causing air raid alarms to sound in Haifa and numerous other cities and communities across northern Israel and the occupied Golan Heights, as confirmed by the Israeli military.
“All Indian Nationals and PIOs who can evacuate Tehran using their own means are strongly advised to relocate to a secure area outside the city,” the Indian Embassy in Iran stated on platform X.
“All Indian Nationals currently in Tehran who have not yet contacted the Embassy are urged to reach out to the Indian Embassy in Tehran without delay to provide their location and contact details. Please contact: +989010144557; +989128109115; +989128109109,” it further emphasized.
In addition, US President Donald Trump has also called for the evacuation of Tehran as tensions continue to rise.
“Iran should have agreed to the deal I proposed. It is a tragedy and a loss of human life. To be clear, Iran cannot possess a nuclear weapon. I have repeatedly stated this! Everyone should evacuate Tehran immediately!” Trump stated on Truth Social on Tuesday.
The US President also announced he would be cutting his visit to the Group of 7 (G7) summit in Canada short to keep a close watch on the situation as tensions in the Middle East escalate.
“I must return as soon as possible. I need to be back early for obvious reasons,” Trump informed reporters during the summit convened in the Canadian Rockies.
Meanwhile, in the latest news, Bazan, Israel's largest oil refinery company, has declared a complete shutdown of all its facilities at the Haifa Port due to damage inflicted by an Iranian missile strike.
