New Delhi, April 14 (NationPress) The safety of all Indian seafarers operating in the Gulf region has been confirmed, with no reports of incidents involving Indian-flagged vessels in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Ports and Shipping.
The Directorate General (DG) of Shipping has successfully repatriated over 2,262 Indian seafarers from various locations within the Gulf area, including 85 individuals in the last 24 hours, as stated in a ministry release.
The DG Shipping Control Room has managed 6,292 calls and over 13,228 emails since its activation, which includes 219 calls and 361 emails in the past 24 hours alone.
Port operations throughout India are reported to be functioning normally with no congestion, according to the release.
The Ministry is actively collaborating with the Ministry of External Affairs, Indian Missions, and maritime stakeholders to ensure the safety and welfare of Indian seafarers and ensure that maritime operations run smoothly.
In the Gulf region, Indian Missions and Posts maintain close communication with the Indian community, providing necessary assistance and advisories for their safety and well-being, as outlined in a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs.
Additionally, the Ministry of External Affairs continues its outreach efforts to countries in West Asia. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has spoken with the Foreign Minister of Kuwait regarding the regional situation and the welfare of the Indian community, as well as with the Foreign Minister of Israel to discuss various aspects of the ongoing conflict in West Asia.
Furthermore, the External Affairs Minister has also engaged in discussions with his Singaporean and Australian counterparts about the conflict in West Asia.
The Ministry remains in regular contact with state governments and Union Territories to improve information sharing and coordination. Efforts are focused on ensuring the safety, security, and welfare of the Indian community in the region, as stated in the release.
