New Delhi, Dec 11 (NationPress) As it steadily returns to normal operations, IndiGo announced on Thursday that it will provide travel vouchers valued at Rs 10,000 to customers who faced significant disruptions during the flight cancellations earlier this month.
The airline has expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to many travelers between December 3 and 5 who were left stranded for extended periods at major airports across the country. This situation led to thousands of cancellations and delays, resulting in long lines for affected passengers.
"We will extend travel vouchers worth Rs 10,000 to these severely affected customers. These vouchers are valid for use on any future IndiGo flight within the next 12 months," stated an IndiGo spokesperson.
This compensation is in addition to the existing government regulations, which stipulate that IndiGo will provide compensation ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000, based on the flight's block time, to customers whose flights were canceled within 24 hours of departure.
IndiGo also assured that all necessary refunds for canceled flights have already been processed, including those made through travel partners.
The airline emphasized its commitment to ensuring a safe, smooth, and reliable travel experience.
Earlier today, IndiGo Chairman Vikram Singh Mehta mentioned that the airline's Board will engage external technical experts to collaborate with management and identify the underlying causes of last week's widespread flight disruptions.
He added that these experts will assist in preventing future operational failures of this scale.
Furthermore, the company announced that all destinations in its network have been fully operational since December 8, with services stabilizing from December 9.
On December 8, IndiGo completed over 1,750 flights with only one same-day cancellation, while on December 9, it operated more than 1,800 flights with no cancellations at all. Additionally, on December 10, the airline managed over 1,900 flights, with just two cancellations.
On Thursday, IndiGo projected that it plans to operate over 1,950 flights catering to approximately 300,000 customers.
