New Delhi, Nov 23 (NationPress) The Indian Naval Ship INS Sahyadri and the Australian Navy's HMAS Ballarat took part in the bilateral exercise AUSINDEX 2025 in the Northern Pacific.
Throughout the exercise, warships and aircraft from both navies conducted rigorous joint naval drills and operations in the Northern Pacific.
In a statement released on Sunday via X, the spokesperson for the Indian Navy remarked, "The indigenously constructed stealth warship INS Sahyadri, as part of its current operational deployment, took part in the bilateral exercise AUSINDEX 2025 alongside HMAS Ballarat of the Australian Navy."
"The warships and aircraft from both navies were engaged in rigorous joint naval drills and operations in the Northern Pacific. This exercise is intended to significantly enhance interoperability and strengthen the strategic partnership between these two maritime nations," the spokesperson elaborated.
Designed and built in India, INS Sahyadri is a guided missile stealth frigate and a remarkable representation of the 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' initiative. It has been involved in numerous bilateral and multilateral exercises, along with various operational deployments.
On November 7, INS Sahyadri made a port visit to Guam to engage in Exercise Malabar.
This exercise, which took place from November 10 to 18, included naval maneuvers among the navies of India, Japan, Australia, and the US.
INS Sahyadri participated in the maritime phase of Exercise Malabar, which encompassed anti-submarine warfare, visit board search and seizure (VBSS), gunnery exercises, underway replenishment, and cross-deck helicopter operations.
In a statement shared on X, the Indian Navy spokesperson mentioned, "INS Sahyadri took part in the maritime phase of Exercise Malabar 2025 from November 13 to 17. The four-day high-tempo maritime phase featured anti-submarine warfare, VBSS, gunnery exercises, underway replenishment, and cross-deck helicopter operations. Additionally, sea riders were exchanged between the participating vessels to share best practices and enhance mutual understanding."
During the harbor phase of Exercise Malabar, the crew of INS Sahyadri engaged in collaborative interactions with the operations teams of the participating navies, including cross-deck visits and sharing of best practices.
"Friendly sports events fostered camaraderie among personnel from INS Sahyadri, the US, Japan, and Australia, building mutual trust and promoting teamwork in the true maritime spirit," highlighted the Indian Navy last week.
