Mumbai, Dec 29 (NationPress) On the occasion of Rajesh Khanna’s 83rd birth anniversary this Monday, renowned actor Jackie Shroff expressed his deep admiration for the late superstar by dedicating the timeless song “Chala Jata Hoon” from the 1972 classic film “Mere Jeevan Saathi”.

Jackie utilized his Instagram stories to share a series of photographs of the actor, who is celebrated as the first Superstar of Hindi cinema. The video featured the track “Chala Jata Hoon” playing in the background, evoking nostalgia.

In his caption, Jackie remarked: “Always in our hearts… Remembering Rajesh Khanna ji on his birth anniversary.”

Rajesh Khanna, who made his acting debut with Aakhri Khat in 1966, was India’s first official entry for the Academy Awards in 1967. He was affectionately known by several names including “RK,” “Shehzada,” “King of Romance,” and “Pasha of Passion.”

Some of his legendary films include Aradhana, Anand, Amar Prem, Kati Patang, Haathi Mere Saathi, Safar, Do Raaste, and Sachaa Jhutha. His romantic roles and expressive eyes led to a remarkable record of 17 consecutive hits during the late 1960s and early 1970s.

In March 1973, he married Dimple Kapadia, shortly before her debut film Bobby was released. The couple had two daughters, Twinkle Khanna and Rinkie Khanna.

The beloved star served as a Member of Parliament in the 10th Lok Sabha representing the New Delhi Lok Sabha constituency from 1992 to 1996, having been elected as a candidate from the Indian National Congress in a by-election.

He passed away on July 18, 2012, at his residence, Aashirwad, in Mumbai, following a battle with cancer that began in July 2011.

His final film, Riyasat, featuring Gauri Kulkarni, Aryan Vaid, Aryeman Ramsay, and Raza Murad, was released on July 18, 2014, two years posthumously.
