Data released by the Social Welfare Department offered district-specific insights into the beneficiaries and funds allocated over the past three years.
In 2023-24, the scheme covered 26,000 beneficiaries with Rs 130 crore disbursed, and a similar number of beneficiaries received assistance in 2024-25, with an equal amount allocated.
For the year 2025-26 (as of now), 44,301 beneficiaries have qualified, and Rs 234 crore has been distributed, which includes pending payments of Rs 70.08 crore in the treasury.
The detailed statistics revealed that districts such as Srinagar had 2,504 beneficiaries; Anantnag, 4,308; Budgam, 4,255; Baramulla, 3,855; Kupwara, 3,426; and Kathua, 2,449, highlighting the regions with the highest beneficiary counts this fiscal year.
Under the Ladli Beti Scheme, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah reported that 1,41,085 beneficiaries were approved in 2023-24, with Rs 213.75 crore disbursed, while 1,76,126 beneficiaries were sanctioned in 2024-25, receiving Rs 150 crore.
As of now in 2025-26, a total of 1,98,024 beneficiaries have been approved under this scheme, with Rs 300 crore allocated, which includes pending bills of Rs 200 crore in the treasury for distribution to the sanctioned beneficiaries' pool account maintained by J&K Bank.
