Jammu, Jan 29 (NationPress) The J&K Police announced on Thursday that they have successfully recovered stolen gold valued at Rs 50 lakh related to a theft incident in Jammu city, while the alleged perpetrator remains elusive.

A police communiqué stated, “Jammu Police have made significant progress in a high-value theft investigation by recovering gold ornaments worth approximately Rs 50 lakh that had been stolen from a showroom located in the bustling center of Jammu city.”

On September 20, 2025, a report was filed by Shanu Manhas at the Police Station Pacca Danga, claiming her purse containing gold jewelry was stolen while she was shopping at the Game Changer showroom in Pacca Danga.

“Consequently, FIR No. 108/2025 under Sections 303(2)/112 BNS was registered. During the investigation, a police team led by SHO Police Station Pacca Danga, Inspector Rakesh Mani, along with PSI Rajesh Kumar, PSI Paramjeet Singh, and PSI Rakesh from PS Pacca Danga, meticulously scrutinized CCTV footage from the showroom and surrounding areas, which indicated the involvement of two non-local women,” the statement elaborated.

The police disseminated the suspects' photographs widely through social media, news outlets, and public places, including bus stations and crowded venues across several states.

“Continuous investigation, inclusive of technical analysis of CDRs, location data, and other digital evidence, led police to Rajgarh district, Madhya Pradesh, where extensive raids were conducted. Consequently, the complete stash of stolen gold jewelry worth approximately Rs 50 lakh was successfully retrieved. However, the suspects managed to escape during the operation,” stated the police.

“One police unit remains at the site to capture the suspects, while another has returned to Jammu with the recovered items. Ongoing investigations and search operations are in progress. The Jammu Police reaffirm their steadfast commitment to safeguarding life and property, ensuring prompt investigations into crimes, and delivering justice to offenders.
