Chennai, Jan 10 (NationPress) Actor Jayam Ravi, who stars opposite actress Nithya Menen in director Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi’s forthcoming romantic drama ‘Kadhalikka Neramillai’, has disclosed that he emulated the practice of placing his heroine’s name before his own in this film’s credits from Bollywood legend Shah Rukh Khan.
The actor, during a pre-release event on Friday evening, expressed, “I am extremely pleased to be involved in this project. The title ‘Kadhalikka Neramillai’ is iconic, and knowing that it has been chosen for a story that fits it perfectly brings me joy.”
He then addressed a recurring question regarding the film.
“Many have inquired why Nithya Menon’s name is prioritized in the credits over mine. They wonder what gives me this level of assurance. I can only attribute it to self-confidence. That’s all there is to it. I believe I have challenged conventions. Whether it's producing a zombie film or one set in space, I have tackled it all. I pondered, ‘Is this the only norm that can be changed?’
“We collectively decided that we should also disrupt this tradition (of always placing the hero's name first). Witnessing this shift as a human is truly gratifying. I took this cue from Shah Rukh Khan, who was the pioneer in advocating for his heroines' names to be listed first. Likewise, whenever I collaborate with a female director, I intend to uphold this practice. I express my gratitude to all my supporters. We have created a mirage here as men and women. Without women, men lack meaning, and vice versa. This is the reality.”
‘Kadhalikka Neramillai’, directed by Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi, stars Nithya Menen and Jayam Ravi in lead roles. The film, a relationship drama, aims to address significant social issues and features actors Vinay Rai, Yogi Babu, TJ Banu, John Kokken, Lal, Lakshmi Ramakrishnan, Singer Mano, Vinothini, and Rohaan Singh, among others.
The film’s music is composed by A R Rahman, with cinematography by Gavemic Ary. Editing is handled by Lawrence Kishore, and choreography is done by Shobi Paulraj, Sandy, and Leelavathi. The production is by Red Giant Movies.
