New Delhi, Oct 15 (NationPress) As Bihar Assembly elections approach, JD(U) working president Sanjay Kumar Jha announced on Wednesday that the party will soon unveil its first list of candidates, potentially as early as this evening. He revealed that the Chief Minister's election campaign will kick off in Samastipur on Thursday, with a public rally planned in Darbhanga.
Jha asserted that the Opposition has struggled to solidify its candidate numbers, stating, “The numbers have been finalized, and nearly all decisions regarding candidate placements are complete. The nomination process has commenced for various parties. The entire NDA coalition is united in this endeavor.”
Regarding the decision-making process within JD(U), Jha noted, “In this party, all decisions are made after consulting Nitish Kumar and taking his opinions into account. He is a democratic leader, not autocratic; he engages in discussions with everyone, gathers feedback, and then reaches a decision. However, the final approval remains with the Chief Minister.”
The JD(U) MP dismissed any significant discord within the alliance, expressing confidence in the NDA's electoral future.
“I am confident that our performance will surpass that of 2010,” he emphasized, referencing the remarkable success of the JD(U)-BJP alliance during that election cycle.
He firmly believes that the NDA will perform strongly in the upcoming elections and that Nitish Kumar will be re-elected as Chief Minister.
The previously announced seat-sharing agreement allocates 101 seats to both the BJP and JD(U). Other alliance members, including Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM), and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM), have received 29, 6, and 6 seats, respectively.
The Election Commission has scheduled the Bihar Assembly elections for two phases on November 6 and 11, 2025, with results to be announced on November 14, 2025.
